Haddington and District Branch Labour Party held its Annual General Meeting earlier this week and elected a new committee to take forward the party’s work in the town and surrounding area.
David Stevenson was elected Chair of the branch, Caitlin Stott has taken on the role of Secretary, and branch stalwart and former local councillor Ann McCarthy remains as Treasurer.
The branch meeting also resolved to hold a special meeting on Monday 28th September to discuss future plans for the party locally and across East Lothian. The meeting will take place in the Function Suite at the Railway Hotel starting at 7:30pm and will be addressed by Iain Gray MSP.
The branch will also have a stall at Haddington Farmers' Market on Saturday 26th September.
Speaking after the AGM, new Chair David Stevenson said:
“The new committee of the Haddington Labour branch is committed to ensuring that the party here is an effective group closely involved with the local community and also contributing to the wider campaigning and policy work of East Lothian Labour Party.
“We are very keen to welcome new members into the party in Haddington and I urge anyone thinking about joining us to come forward now and get involved with our work.”
