Members re-select Goodfellow in North Berwick Coastal Ward

Jim Goodfellow, sitting Labour councillor for the North Berwick Coastal Ward, has been re-selected by local members to stand again in next May's local elections.

The members were unanimous in their backing for Cllr Goodfellow, who was first elected to represent the ward in 2012. He was a well-known figure locally prior to his election, having been a teacher at North Berwick High School and a member of the town's community council.

Speaking after his re-selection, Cllr Jim Goodfellow said:

“I am delighted to have received this unanimous backing from colleagues in North Berwick Labour Party. I've worked tirelessly over the last four and half years to represent the communities that make up the North Berwick Coastal ward and serve their interests on the Council.

"Much has been achieved during this time to improve local services, but there is much more to be done. I'll be aiming to speak to as many local people as possible over the next few months to tell them about my record and what I still want to achieve, as well as hearing what their priorities are for the ward over the next five years."

North Berwick Coastal Branch Labour Party Chair Pilmar Smith added:

"Jim has been a first rate councillor for our ward since 2012. He has stood up for the area's interests and supported many local residents with a huge range of issues. He has the necessary drive and commitment to continue being an excellent representative for this area and I look forward to supporting his re-election campaign."
