Local Labour Party activists, including Fa’side councillors Donald Grant and Shamin Akhtar, joined other Better Together supporters on Tranent High Street on Saturday to speak to local people about the positive case for Scotland remaining part of the UK.

The campaigners braved the miserable weather to hand out leaflets, speak to dozens of local people and sign several up to support the campaign.

Speaking afterwards, local Better Together co-ordinator and Tranent Labour Party Chair Robert McNeill said:

“Every time we campaign on the streets in Tranent we receive an overwhelmingly positive response. Many people told us of their strong support for the UK and their eagerness to ensure that there is a firm No vote in September.

“We’ll be keeping up our efforts across the county right up until the vote. We’ll be on the High Street in Dunbar next Saturday (17th May) and anyone who supports Better Together or wants more information is very welcome to come and join us.”
