Scottish Labour Leader Kezia Dugdale joined members and supporters from across East Lothian at the official launch of Iain Gray’s re-election campaign at Prestonpans Labour Club last Sunday.

Ms Dugdale spoke passionately about Mr Gray’s significant contribution at Holyrood, as well as his excellent track record standing up for East Lothian’s interests over the last nine years.

Mr Gray told the audience that this election is different to previous ones because of the additional powers that are coming to the Scottish Parliament, which will make it one of the most powerful devolved parliaments anywhere in the world. He also spelled out in detail how the SNP Scottish Government has let down East Lothian time and again.

Iain Gray said:

“I was delighted to be joined by so many friends and supporters at my official campaign launch. East Lothian Labour Party is always at its best at election times and I’m sure it will be no different at this one.

“We have a very strong story to tell local residents. I have been a hard working MSP who has always stood up for East Lothian’s interests. This has been a full time task because the SNP Scottish Government in Edinburgh has been bad for our county at every turn.

“From the closure of Haddington’s courts to numerous overturned local planning decisions, the 10-year delay in our new community hospital to the failure to invest in local rail services, East Lothian is always left at the back of the queue by SNP Ministers.

“As we take our campaign out across the county in the coming weeks, I’ll be reminding people about the SNP’s dismal track record and promoting Labour’s radical and positive alternative.”
