Members from the Tranent and district Labour Party were joined by colleagues from across the county at Ormiston Community Centre on Friday evening for the branch’s first annual quiz night.

The well-attended event raised over £700 towards the local party’s Scottish Parliamentary election fund for next year. Local MSP Iain Gray was quiz master for the night, with a team from Haddington emerging as the victors.

Iain Gray MSP said:

“I’ve always enjoyed participating in quiz nights, so it made a change to be asking the questions instead of trying to answer them. It was quite a competitive evening, with the Haddington team finishing just ahead of one from Prestonpans, but we also had a lot of fun.

“Members of the Tranent and district branch do a great job in the local community and I want to thank everyone who was involved in making the event happen for their commitment and hard work.”

Tranent Branch Chair Grant Dugdale said:

“Being in the Labour Party has always had a social as well as political side to it, and it was great to see so many people at this first annual branch quiz night. The money raised will help us to fund next year’s crucial Scottish Parliament election campaign.

“We have a band night coming up next in Macmerry on 27th November and all local Labour supporters are very welcome to join us. These events will help ensure we are in the best possible shape to contest the campaign locally next year.”
