Members and supporters of East Lothian Labour Party came together at Prestonpans Labour Club last Friday to celebrate Burns Night.

Around 100 people attended the event, which featured some superb contributions. Martin Whitfield MP was Master of Ceremonies, Provost Cllr John McMillan gave the Immortal Memory and Iain Gray MSP did the Reply to the Lassies.

Earlier in the evening Gordon Kidd had given an inspired performance of Tam O’Shanter, with Sarah Lindsay replying with Kate O’Shanter, while Ian Jeffries read Tam Samson’s Elegy.

Music for the evening was provided by well known local musicians Arthur and Stewart Wilson, with Josh Pollard on the pipes.

Brian Weddell, Chair of Prestonpans Labour Party who led the organisation of the evening, said:

“This is the first Burns Supper we have had for many  years and we’re delighted it was such a huge success. I want to thank all of our speakers and performers for entertaining us so well and everyone who came along and joined in on the night.”
