Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar joined Douglas Alexander, Scottish Labour’s candidate in the Lothian East constituency, this week.
The pair met with local voters and businesses in North Berwick and even bought ice-creams before taking a walk about in the seaside town.
Speaking after the visit, Douglas Alexander said:
“Across the constituency we find on the doorstep that both former SNP voters and former Conservative voters are now turning to Labour.
“In North Berwick we are meeting former Conservative voters who feel embarrassed by Boris Johnson’s behaviour during the pandemic and Liz Truss’s costly crashing of the UK economy. At the same time, we are meeting plenty of former SNP voters who feel completely scunnered with the SNP-led Scottish Government and their abject failures in health, education, transport, indeed across the whole of our public life.
“This week, as Scottish Labour with the launch of our manifesto, we’ve been making the case that change is possible and that the country can and must be better.
“From delivering economic stability and establishing a new publicly-owned energy company, GB Energy, headquartered here in Scotland, to providing extra funds for our NHS, we are ready to take the first steps to rebuilding our economy and our public services.
“It’s time to stop the chaos. It’s time to turn the page. It’s time for change.”
