Neil Findlay MSP was the guest speaker at the recent East Lothian Labour Party Annual General Meeting at Prestonpans Labour Club.

The Lothian list MSP spoke about his campaigns for a review of convictions made during the 1984/85 miners’ strike and justice for blacklisted construction workers, which local Labour representatives Iain Gray MSP and Fiona O’Donnell MP have been supporting.

These issues were of great interest to local Labour party members who had turned out in force from all parts of the county to hear from Mr Findlay and ask him questions about the two important campaigns.

The Labour MSP is particularly keen to hear from people in the county who were involved in the miners’ dispute and believe that they were wrongly arrested or convicted. He can be contacted at www.neilfindlaymsp.com/the-conviction-of-miners-and-others-during-the-198485-miners-strike

Speaking after the meeting, Iain Gray MSP said:

“Neil is one of the new intake of Labour MSPs who is making a real impact at Holyrood. His campaigns for a review of miners’ strike convictions and on blacklisting in the construction industry are issues that really strike a chord with many people in East Lothian.

“We were very pleased to have him address the AGM and his contribution certainly stimulated an interesting discussion about the fight for justice on these two very important matters. It was also good to hear that he is making progress with both campaigns. Fiona O’Donnell and I will continue to do all we can to support him.

“Neil is particularly keen to hear from local people who believe that they were wrongly arrested or convicted during the miners’ strike to help build up a fuller picture of the injustices that occurred at that time. I urge anyone who thinks they might be able to help to contact Neil and tell him their story.”
